BACK

In Japan, there were so many times that I wanted to just stop and take everything in; the fact that I was in a different country, and in a part of the world I never thought I'd see was incredible. It felt as though everything built had so much care put into it. The manhole covers had special designs for each city, many subway stations were uniquely decorated, and the city itself felt so inviting. For my project, I wanted to focus on the smaller, everyday pieces of Japan that can very easily go unnoticed.

I knew I wanted to try to do something different that I haven't tried in Illustrator before. So for my project, I created a small piece of street and sidewalk solely from illustrator with one of Japan's many unique manhole covers in the corner in the format of a triptych poster series. I wanted the format so that the posters had to be displayed large, and force you to see the detail of the manhole cover, along with some other small pieces.
